Michelle Buteau‘s hilarious sitcom ‘Survival of the Thickest‘ survived the Netflix chopping block for two seasons, but it appears it’s set for its last laugh with season three.
Created by the starring comedienne herself and inspired by her 2020 essay collection of the same name, ‘Thickest’ sees Buteau portray “Mavis Beaumont” – a “Black, plus-size beauty looking for love while loving herself and working hard to grow her brand and establish herself as a stylist” in the big city.
Leading a cast of familiar faces like Tasha Smith and Garcelle Beauvais, the in-your-face comedy boasted its fair share of notable guest stars over its first two seasons including Tika Sumpter, Anderson. Paak, Sandra Bernhard, RonReaco Lee, Deon Cole, and Monet X Change (to name a few).
Premiered in summer 2023, there’s no official word on when ‘Thickest’ will bid its dedicated viewers farewell.
The unofficial on the curb, however, is that season 3 will premiere in 2026.
