Lil Wayne’s Ex-Chef SUES For $500K, Claims Wrongful Termination + DaBaby Celebrates Beating $6M Lawsuit
Lil Wayne has been hit with a new lawsuit, while DaBaby just won one. Details inside... Lil Wayne’s former chef isn’t going out without a fight after making claims that she was wrongfully terminated. According to reports, Wayne’s former chef, Morghan Medlock, claims she was fired after she left the rapper earlier this year to deal with a family emergency, so she’s suing. In the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, she said she had been working for him for almost two years when she was fired following a trip to Las Vegas during Memorial Day Weekend. At some point during the trip, she was notified that her 10-year-old son had suffered a head injury and was hospitalized. She rushed to make her way back to L.A., but claims Wayne slowed things down, specifically by smoking on the plane. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chef Morghan (@chefmorghan) Instead of waiting for a flight back home, she took a different plane and informed Wayne's assistant of the situation. After leaving Vegas, she said the rapper’s team kept asking her if she was quitting, and she said she told them “no.” Despite her claims, they fired her, which surprised her because she expected them to understand. According to Morghan’s suit, Wayne eventually sent her a message that said, "Tell Chef Morghan this isn't going to work." The private chef claims that her firing violated California law, which prohibits firing someone because they missed work to care for their sick or injured child. She’s suing for wrongful termination, retaliation, and a number of unlawful practices. She’s seeking at least $500,000 for the injustice. Speaking of lawsuits… Nearly three years after it was filed, DaBaby's 2020 lawsuit arising from a street fight in Miami was finally resolved. And he’s uber happy about it. According to TMZ, the “BOP” rapper’s legal team won the case after a five-day trial that ended on Monday (Dec. 18th). Initially, the native of North Carolina (real name Jonathan Lyndale Kirk) and his group were charged with robbing and assaulting concert promoter Kenneth Carey and another man. The two men claimed that they lost their personal belongings, including money and a phone, during the altercation. Despite the fact that prosecutors dropped the initial criminal battery charge against the "Rockstar" rapper, the 30-year-old was still ordered to pay $6,000,000 in court fees. The case was settled in DaBaby's favor on Monday. He added, “Mr. Kirk deserves all the credit in the world for not caving in to these plaintiffs’ cash demands and having the confidence in the facts and his legal team to take this to a jury trial for a complete and total victory!” That’s one legal case down and another to go!
