While it never was even confirmed that the rapper was in the running for the slot, which ultimately went to stage blazer Kendrick Lamar, social media has been locked in fierce debate. Specifically regarding the Apple Music-sponsored spectacle taking place in the MC’s hometown of New Orleans on February 9, 2025.

Speaking in a video shared with fans, the ‘Lollipop’ hitmaker seemed somber and sour about not snagging the slot (which is co-produced by Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation). He vented, saying:
“I blame myself, for not being mentally prepared for a let down.”
