Killer Mike is suing GRAMMYs security for damages over his arrest last year at the award show.

According to TMZ, in the new lawsuit the ‘MICHAEL’ rapper stated security stopped him on the way to the red carpet despite him winning awards including Best Rap Album and having the necessary credentials.

Mike says that the two companies, S&S Labor Force Inc. and JRM Private Security, used unnecessary force, were given too much power, and unlawfully placed him under citizen’s arrest.

The rapper continued by stating the security physically assaulted, battered him, and caused him emotional distress and public humiliation. Mike was released from police custody and prosecutors didn’t pursue criminal charges.

John R. McKillop, President of S&S Labor Force Inc., released a statement saying the company:

“takes pride in our commitment to ethical practices and the safety of our employees, clients and guests. We have thorough protocols in place to ensure all actions taken by our security personnel adhere to the law and our company standards. The claim in question appears to be based on misinformation and lacks credible evidence.”

McKillop says that the company had zero involvement in the incident and that they’re currently investigating the allegations and are prepared to take legal action to address any defamation.
