Just two months after Kelly Rowland stunned her beloved fans (affectionately called #RowlandStones) with news her next album would be dropped without warning, the R&B diva has taken to press to double down on the notion about the long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s ‘Talk a Good Game.’
Chatting it up with ET Canada recently in promotion of her forthcoming film, Tyler Perry‘s ‘Mea Culpa,’ as well as her brand partnership with SC Johnson’s FamilyGuard to bring awareness to “National Yes, Play!” Day, the 42-year-old discussed those ventures while also fielding questions about Beyonce‘s ‘Renaissance Tour,’ Destiny’s Child, and more.
When quizzed about her solo musical ventures, Rowland quickly shut down the idea anything is coming soon but went on to clarify new tunes are still on her radar.
Hop inside to see what she said.
Rowland beamed when dishing about her forthcoming film and TV endeavors, but was honest that music is still “inspiring her” at this stage of her career.
When the interviewer pressed Kelly to elaborate on new solo music details, however, the songstress played coy.
“I just won’t say anything in the first place,” Rowland said in relation to previous false promises of new music (at the video’s 9:05 mark). “Let me just be spontaneous and just go in the studio, nobody knows, and just randomly release music. That’s the way it should be; it should be a surprise.”
Later, the interviewer asked if there were any genres or collaborations Kelly would like to explore with her new project.
“From Victoria Monet to Lucky Daye to H.E.R., Summer Walker…there are so many artists doing such wonderful things,” the Destiny’s Child alum said at the interview’s 9:47 mark while listing off some of her favorite artists of the day.
Shrouded in mystery, the new effort will come as the first body of work Rowland’s dropped since the ‘K‘ EP in 2021.
