Following a frightening collision with guard K.J. Simpson during a victory over the Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaylen Wells is conscious and aware. Simpson also expressed regret to Wells, who received medical attention in a hospital.

About 1:10 before halftime on Tuesday, during the Grizzlies’ 124-100 victory in Charlotte, North Carolina, the event took place.

Tuomas Iisalo, the Grizzlies‘ interim coach, told reporters: “It puts everything into perspective, seeing that situation and seeing Jaylen there,”

“A tough situation for everybody. He is an incredibly tough kid. Had a great season. He is in all of our thoughts.

“Luckily, he is moving all the extremities. Unfortunately, he has a broken wrist. … He will have a great recovery.”

Simpson ran underneath Wells, who was on a fast break, forcing him to fall backward after he made the slam. Wells’ neck, head, and wrist all slammed to the ground as his body twisted and he fell awkwardly.

Before being carried off the playing field and put on a stretcher, he remained down. Simpson was removed from the game after receiving a flagrant-2 foul.

Aman Dhesi, Wells’ agent, told ESPN that his client was awake, conscious, and moving his limbs despite having a shattered right wrist. Additionally, Wells shared a picture of himself on Instagram in a cast and in a hospital bed. “Go Grizz” is what he wrote on the picture.

Wells’ father posted on X on Tuesday that his son was having back, jaw, and facial pain. Simpson posted a lengthy apology on X, claiming to have spoken with Wells following the event.
