“Jayden Daniels Not Top 5 QB” : Seth Joyner

Few of us had the Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFC Championship on our bingo cards before to the 2024 regular season or even the start of the playoffs. However, it’s no surprise that Jayden Daniels had different ideas, ending the franchise’s 33-year skid. Naturally, he is now regarded as one of the league’s top five quarterbacks. But not by the legendary Seth Joyner of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The former Eagles linebacker was asked about Daniels’ inclusion in many fans’ top 5 NFL quarterback lists during the most recent episode of the WIP Morning Show.

Joyner responded by making it apparent that he will not treat a rookie with the same respect that he accords to more seasoned players like Mahomes, Burrow, Lamar, and Allen.

Daniels needs to establish himself by putting up solid performances season after season, according to Joyner, if he wants to be regarded as a great quarterback. The league has seen its share of one-hit wonders, Joyner noted. Jeff Janis and Matt Flynn are two examples. Joyner warned Daniels that, like them, he would lose his spark in his sophomore year.

“I don’t give any young guy that kind of respect. Show me you can do it from year to year. I’m not giving you that in one year, even if he beats Eagles. No. How many times have we had one year wonders? So let’s wait and see before we start crowning guys. He could go completely in the tank next year.”

Joyner’s remarks are undoubtedly not popular. To be honest, though, his position has a lot of merit.
