Jason Timpf Encourages Lakers to Start Rebuilding

The Lakers’ campaign has descended into a crisis following a strong start to the season. They are now in ninth place in the rankings after losing six of their last eight games. Head coach JJ Redick questioned his team’s professionalism after they lost to the Heat by 41 points in their most recent game, which was their lowest point total.

Jason Timpf suggested that the teams should start by moving its superstar tandem because of their lackluster start, despite LeBron James and Anthony Davis‘ best efforts.

Jason Timpf talks about the Lakers needing to revamp their team

The insider stated that the Lakers’ window for a title is closed on the Hoops Tonight podcast.

Giving James and Davis away would bring in the resources they’d need to start the rebuild, he continued, adding that it’s important to have a head start on the inevitable process. Timpf stated: “I think they should trade LeBron and [Anthony Davis]. Start the rebuild. Jeanie Buss needs to fire Rob Pelinka and hire somebody who actually understands basketball, and they need a fresh start.”

Timpf went on to say that the Lakers’ inertia is the fault of general manager Rob Pelinka. He asserted that the team must trust Redick and allow him to spearhead the personnel overhaul. He stated: “[Redick] goes in there trying to establish a basketball culture, and these guys just can’t f*****g be bothered, they just can’t f*****g be bothered. They need to completely break this thing down. They need to completely reinvest in JJ Redick.”

Timpf’s proposal might seem a little over the top. The Lakers are still within striking distance of the top six teams in the rankings, despite their dismal play. They also have a talented roster, led by James and Davis, and can bounce back if they lock-in. However, they do need to make some trades.
