Hot 100: Ariana Grande’s ‘Yes, And?’ Predicted To Debut at #1 / Lil Nas X’s ‘J Christ’ To Miss the Top 70

Will ‘Yes, And?’ be Ariana Grande‘s historic 8th no. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100? All signs are pointing toward a resounding “yes”…and the details are inside.

Judging by the commercial response on digital music platforms just 24 hours after the January 12 release of ‘Yes,’ it was quickly apparent Ari had a monster hit on her hands.

As if topping real-time Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and YouTube charts with the original incarnation of the Max Martin-produced bop wasn’t enough to boast, she rolled out several other versions (i.e. a capella, extended, etc.) over the days that followed.

Mixed with a handsome welcome at radio, the overall sales+streaming combo is looking to be just what the doctor ordered to land Grande her next chart-topper as industry analysts predict ‘Yes’ will open at all-genre chart’s summit.

If the projection proves true Ariana will tie Taylor Swift in Hot 100 history books for the most #1 debuts among female artists (6 apiece). At writing, Drake is the all-time leader with 9.

Although social media conversation doesn’t convert to currency on the main Billboard charts, there should still be a nod given to Lil Nas X‘s latest single – ‘J Christ’ – for being the week’s most talked about new song.

Also released on January 12, the tune and its shocking/sacrilegious self-directed music video arrived after ample teasing on Twitter and Tik Tok – provocation that certainly courted massive coverage and controversy from the press and music lovers alike.

Despite the chatter and subsequent uproar, however, the Omer Fedi-produced cut garnered a modest response at radio, streaming, and on sales platforms, leading industry analysts to predict it will likely debut in the Hot 100’s third quadrant between #71-74.

If the prediction proves true it will mark one of the lowest openings of his career to date on the all-genre chart.
