Floyd Mayweather Threatens to File a Lawsuit Against His Named Fitness Club

In a possible lawsuit that is affecting him personally, boxing legend Floyd Mayweather is threatening legal action.

A TMZ story dated May 20 claims that Mayweather is threatening to sue Mayweather Fitness because the gym, with which he has long been affiliated, is allegedly underpaying some of its staff. Floyd’s team is therefore requesting that they receive any correspondence and business records pertaining to Mayweather Fitness.

Floyd’s attorneys are now threatening a lawsuit based on “fraud, misappropriation of likeness, breach of contract, defamation” of the unbeaten boxer in a letter requesting compliance.

Additionally, the letter adds:

“Mr. Mayweather has not participated in the management, operations, or strategic oversight of [Mayweather Fitness].

“Despite his limited involvement as a brand ambassador, your organizations have continually and improperly exploited his name, image, and likeness for financial gain while simultaneously embroiling him in lawsuits and negative press. While Mr. Mayweather has no control over operational or payroll decisions, the public perception increasingly places blame squarely on him,”

“These incidents continue to erode his reputation, disrupt current business negotiations, and deter potential partners who are reluctant to associate with a brand now tainted by fraud, employee mistreatment, and financial instability,”

Neither Mayweather nor the gym that bears his name will look good as a result of this. According to the TMZ report, Mayweather Fitness must submit the required paperwork by May 25 in order for the case to be filed.

This isn’t the only lawsuit Mayweather is currently facing. On March 31, Business Insider reporter Daniel Geiger claimed that Floyd Mayweather’s 62-building Manhattan real estate portfolio, which he claimed to have purchased in late February, never really happened because there was no proof that a sale had taken place.
