The 57-year-old journalist, who attended the Time 100 Gala with his husband,Tim Malone, 39, shared his plans when asked about his immediate future. ”I’m going to spend my summer on the beach, on the boat, and with my family. And I’ll just see what happens next,” he told EXTRA on the red carpet. “I don’t have to rush to another job — even if I want another job,” Don said on the red carpet. “I do. I want to work again. But I am lucky enough to be in a position where I don’t have to worry about those things. I am excited for a new chapter. Life is short.” Don expressed a positive outlook despite being let go by CNN after 17 years, stating that he was not upset about his termination after nearly two decades with the network. ”It's not in my nature. I'm not an angry person, I'm not mad," he said. "I'm a very resilient person. I've had a very full life with lots of twists and turns. I come from strong, sturdy stock in Louisiana and I am lucky enough to be in a position where I don't have to worry about, you know, not having a place to live or a home or whatever," the journalist continued.
