31 years after En Vogue‘s ‘Free Your Mind’ became their third Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit (#8 peak), the ‘Funky Divas‘ classic could be dancing back to the all-genre chart thanks to a handsome response to their performance at the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday (November 23).

The award-winning girl group – comprised of Cindy Herron, Terry Ellis, and Rhona Bennett – brought the heat to the frigid morning event as part of a lineup that included big names like Brandy, Bell Biv Devoe, Cher, Pentatonix, Jon Batiste, and others.

As if setting viewers alight (in-person and at home) with their rousing showing wasn’t enough, peruse of the real-time R&B iTunes sales chart sees the funky divas printed at #1 after they rocked the streets of New York City with an updated take on their iconic, socially conscious 1992 hit.

Jumping over current R&B smashes like Usher‘s ‘Good Good,’ SZA‘s ‘Snooze,’ Victoria Monet‘s ‘On My Mama,’ and more, the increased sales activity – when coupled with an uptick in streams – could spell a re-entry onto next week’s Billboard charts including R&B sales hitlists or even the all-genre Hot 100.
