Dwight Howard Recalls When He Heard First off Shaquille O’Neal

The story of Dwight Howard and Shaquille O’Neal‘s “beef” is as old as time itself. There are a number of problems that arise anytime one of them mentions the other’s name, and the two don’t appear to get along at all. In their most recent feud, Howard acknowledged on the “Entirely NBA” podcast that he was unaware of the identity of the “Big Aristotle” until the NBA Finals in 2001.

“I never paid attention to Shaq until I saw him win against Philly. That’s the first time I really knew who Shaq was when he beat Philly with the Lakers. I was in the 11th grade.”

Each person receives news at their own rate. Dwight may not have been aware of O’Neal’s identity because he was so disconnected from NBA current events.

Is Dwight Howard faking not knowing Shaquille O’Neal ?

However, it can be challenging to understand this idea. From 1992 until 2001, Shaq was one of the most well-known and marketable figures in North American sports. It’s incredible to consider that Dwight was in his mid- to late-teens when he first heard the moniker “Shaq,” given how much of his life has revolved around basketball.

Howard made this claim after making fun of the Lakers legend for being upset about the nickname “Superman.” For years, the two former Magic centers have been at odds over who has the “rights” to use this moniker. In the modern era, Dwight appears to be completely over any controversy about this.

Dwight stated: “Okay man, you won. God damn. Go ahead and chill out,”

From the beginning, Shaq has been quite clear about his loyalty to Superman. In addition to being his favorite superhero, he played the title role in the movie Steel, which is a variation of the “Man of Steel.” Not to mention his arm’s tattoo of the “S” emblem.
