Recently, Dwight Howard had an open discussion about anything basketball-related on Carmelo Anthony’s 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. After an hour or so, Kid Mero, the co-host, decided to bring up the subject of the dominant center’s continuing feud with Shaquille O’Neal.
Without hesitation, Howard jumped right into the subject. He was keen to clarify that he had nothing to do with starting this online dispute with Shaq, quite the opposite. Howard went so far as to say that he had no idea how it all began.
According to Howard: “I have no idea where it came from. I have seen stuff ever since I was in Orlando about me trying to take ‘Superman’ and things like that, but the Superman for me came from all the things I was doing in the community. It came from me jumping over teammates, me doing stuff in the weight room…it wasn’t because I went around boasting about me being Superman,”

The 39-year-old asserted that the reason behind the conflict is allegedly that he has no fascination with the nickname “Superman.” His superhuman actions on the court are simply what led people to connect him with the term.
Howard also said: “I don’t run around and say I’m Superman,”
“It’s insecurity…you can call it what it is. When you speak on another man or female in any negative light, I feel like that’s insecurity,”
Given that he has done nothing to incite such conduct, the former Orlando Magic center thinks that Shaq’s protracted attack on him is all the result of insecurity. When Dwight Howard was on the slide in the NBA, the big guy most likely couldn’t accept his ascension.
However, Shaq has often insisted that his motivation for criticizing Howard was entirely different.
