Despite enjoying Hot 100 top 20 success with his 2020 breakout single ‘Heartbreak Anniversary‘ (#16 peak) and the chart-topping, Justin Bieber-led smash ‘Peaches‘ the next year, Giveon‘s releases in the years that followed were largely missed from the Pop charts.
That extended absence changed this year, however.
Reignition of interest in the 7x GRAMMY nominee (born Giveon Evans) came courtesy of the Teddy Swims-led hit ‘Are You Even Real‘ that not only earned critical acclaim in January but became Evans’ first Hot 100-charting appearance in nearly 4 years.
Maximizing on the momentum from the Swims assist, the R&B star dropped the February 7-released single ‘Twenties‘ and – if this week’s Pop charts are anything to judge by – has a serious comeback hit on his hands.
Peruse of this week’s Hot 100 sees Giveon’s latest printed at #55. Here are the numbers that powered its placement.
- Streaming ≈ 9.8 million U.S.-based streams
- Sales ≈ 300 digital downloads
- Radio airplay ≈ 500,000 audience impressions
The highest-charting new song on the Hot 100 this week, ‘Twenties’ comes as Giveon’s first solo-charting single since 2021’s ‘For Tonight.’
Produced by Matthew Burnett and Jahaan Sweet, the single is reportedly the lead release from the crooner’s forthcoming sophomore album due later this year. The project will serve as the follow-up to his 2022 debut LP ‘Give or Take.’
Until we learn more about the forthcoming LP, look below to see who joins Evans on the updated TGJ Chart Check: Hot 100 edition.
