Clay Matthews Explains His Belief That Patrick Mahomes Will Complete a 3-Peat

Patrick Mahomes is a name on everyone’s lips. With a rematch between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs imminent, the Super Bowl is drawing near. In addition to the Dallas Cowboys vs. Buffalo Bills matchup, this Super Bowl LIX matchup in New Orleans is only the second Super Bowl matchup to occur twice in three or fewer seasons.

The Chiefs, who have won the last two Super Bowls, are going for a historic three-peat1. In the season-ending Locker Room episode of Bussin’ with the Boys, Clay Matthews says he believes it is wise to bet on the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes to win another Lombardi Trophy.

“I’m going with the Chiefs. The same reason I bet the Chiefs last week versus Buffalo, is the same reason I’m betting this week. You just don’t bet against the King. They are going to win. It’s destiny. It’s what going to happen.”

He has faith in Mahomes’ clutch gene and his capacity to win in dire circumstances. Matthews is confident that Mahomes will deliver even if the Chiefs are on their 25-yard line with a minute and a half remaining and trail by a score. Taylor Lewan supports Kansas City and their quarterback winning as well.

There is, nevertheless, a counterargument to Matthews. Running back Saquon Barkley, who has been playing well in the postseason, is a crucial component for the Eagles. Philadelphia’s strategy should be to pound the Chiefs’ front with Saquon, as this will probably produce excellent results.
