Chingy Reacts to Backlash for Performing at LGBT Republican Event: “I Get Paid to Perform, Not Care About Politics”

Right Thurr‘ rapper Chingy found himself right in the middle of a unique controversy after being listed as a headlining performer for a forthcoming Republican fundraiser.

Featured among prominent MAGA supporters like Donald Trump Jr. and others, ‘Red, White, and Rock,’ a Nashville-based event set for September 29, is designed to support LGBT conservatives.

And while many thought his participation in the unique celebration was a hoax, others immediately jumped to slam the 2000s hitmaker for taking part.

Tired of the backlash, Chingy not only clapped back at detractors but defended his decision to headline ‘Red.’

More inside.

Recently taking to the comment sections of different Instagram posts to defend his decision, Chingy (born Howard Bailey, Jr.) sounded off against the critics.

“I’ma say this one time. MY JOB IS TO PERFORM AND I GET PAID TO PERFORM, NOT CAURR ABOUT POLITICS. NOW YALL FIND SUMIN ELSE TO DO WITH YURR TIME,” he wrote to commenters of our friends at Baller Alert.

When one commenter suggested he took the divisive gig because he was facing money woes, Bailey responded with a lengthy rant suggesting the opposite.

“You can’t be down bad when you just bought a 500k house pimp,” he replied. “Those people don’t hate me because they love my music. Music isn’t racist and that’s how I play it. All this nonsense y’all creating bothers me none. I’m a performer, whether these people are political, homosexual, or whatever—they all love music. I have classic records they all love, and I will perform them for them. So I hope that helps you innerstand that my job as an artist is to perform and make timeless music. That I did.”
