Kanye West is in a remorseful mood. Somewhat.

The controversial MC has been under fire and brimstone after making racially and culturally insensitive remarks that have offended many – most especially the Black and Jewish communities.

As reported, the furor surrounding the latter – which saw West express a desire to go “Defcon 3” on Jewish people he had fallen out with – has seen the embattled star dropped by a growing list of corporations.

Indeed, Adidas, CAA, GAP, Balenciaga, and many more have severed ties with West. Moves that have collectively torpedoed his net worth. For, once deemed a billionaire, Ye’s status as such was no longer a reality in a mere matter of days.

Now, after seemingly issuing a polarizing “apology” to the Jewish community, West is addressing the backlash from the Black community. Specifically, the anger that trailed his claims that Black Lives Matter was a “scam” and his utterance that unarmed Black man George Floyd died from Fentanyl – rather than the knee that rested on his neck for nine minutes and led to former police officer Derek Chauvin being convicted of his murder.

In trademark form, his words on the matter aren’t without issue and many have taken umbrage with the angle his seeming apology stems from.

Speaking at an impromptu “press conference,” here’s what West had to say about the backlash from the Black community:

“I am being humbled right now. By me being burned to the flesh, it’s actually proving what I had to say. When I went to the mediation, they said ‘Piers Morgan got you to apologize to the Jewish community but you never apologized to us about the George Floyd comment that made us feel bad.

JFK. They’ve got a lot of documentaries about how it happened. So, we can argue about how it happened. I like the fact that we can do that. When I see that video as a Black person. When I see that video [George Floyd], as a Black person, it hurts my feelings. And I know that America is generally racist. I understand that when we say Black Lives Matter, the idea of it made us feel good together as a person. As a people. Afterward, there were some things about where the money went. It was used to push us toward the Democratic vote. But the initial feeling was [pure].”

Continuing he said:

“When I said what I said about George Floyd, it hurt my people. Black people. So, I want to apologize for hurting them. Because, right now, God has shown me – by what Adidas is doing and by what the media is doing – I know how it feels to have a knee on my neck.

Thank you God for humbling me and letting me know how it feels. Otherwise, how can the richest Black man ever be humbled other than to be made to not be a billionaire in front of everyone off of one comment.”

Much like his appearance on Piers Morgan’s show, the rapper went on to somehow justify his antisemitic remarks amidst his apology by adding:

“If you look at the definition of Defcon, it means to get extra defense…which obviously I must have needed.”
