Chart Check [Hot 100]: Shaboozey’s ‘Bar Song’ Becomes the First Hit by an African American to Spend Over 50 Weeks in the Top 10

Shaboozey‘s breakout hit, ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy),’ has given him yet another reason to raise a glass thanks to accomplishing yet another history-making milestone on the Billboard Hot 100.

Having already crashed Billboard record books when ‘Bar Song’ became the longest-running solo #1 hit in the Hot 100’s 66-year history last year, the Nevin Sastry-produced cut is continuing its chart domination well into 2025.

Enjoying its 55th print on the all-genre hitlist this week, the J-Kwon-sampling Country tune is found at #5 on the updated edition of the tally – a historic feat as 51 of its 55-week-run were spent in the Hot 100’s top 10.

On the all-time list, Canadian hitmaker The Weeknd‘s ‘Blinding Lights‘ (57) and Teddy Swims‘ ‘Lose Control‘ (60) are the only two songs in history to have had a longer tenancy in the chart region – making Shaboozey (born Collins Chibueze) the first African American to cross the 50-week threshold.
