Caleb Williams Claims Bears ‘Got Our Ass Kicked’ By 49ers

Caleb Williams, the standout rookie quarterback for the Chicago Bears, was blunt following Sunday’s 38–13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Williams said to reporters following the match: “We got our ass kicked today and there’s no way around it”

With the defeat, the Bears’ record fell to 4-9 and their losing run reached seven games. After falling behind 24-0 at the half, Chicago managed just 162 yards of total offense and gave up a staggering 452 yards to San Francisco. The Bears lost the first half with a score of 319–4.

With 17 of his 23 passes completed, Williams passed for 134 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He gained 27 running yards as well.

But he had to deal with constant pressure after losing a fumble and getting sacked seven times. His league-high 56 sacks taken this season are the most for a Chicago quarterback since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, and it was the fifth time this season that he has taken five or more sacks in a single game, according to ESPN.

After the Bears’ Thanksgiving Day loss to the Detroit Lions, they fired head coach Matt Eberflus and wanted to start winning under interim head coach Thomas Brown, so their performance was particularly disappointing.

Unfortunately, Chicago’s situation doesn’t seem to be improving anytime soon. The club has a 40-12 record overall against its final four opponents.
