Atlanta Braves Reporter Wiley Ballard Flirts With a Woman and Gets Her Number Live On-Air

Wiley Ballard is one hell of a charmer now! Following a segment during Monday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays in which a sideline reporter obtained the phone number of a female fan he had just interviewed after being encouraged to do so on-air by his fellow announcers, the Atlanta Braves broadcast team is coming under fire and criticism for acting in an unprofessional manner.

The FanDuel Sports Network In Toronto, Braves reporter Wiley Ballard interviewed two female Braves fans on their fandom on “The Field Report” at the top of the fifth inning. She was “not quite” a Braves fan yet, according to one. Ballard then made an effort to switch back to color analyst C.J. Nitkowski and Braves play-by-play commentator Brandon Gaudin.

On-Air flirting leads to mixed reactions

Gaudin and Nitkowski both commended Ballard’s performance on social media following the broadcast. Gaudin used an emoji of a cell phone to call it “The Wiley Ballard game”.

However, the section seems to have caused a divisive response among viewers in real time, and it immediately sparked a backlash online when the video went viral, especially among journalists and broadcasters.

Many referred to the actions as misogynistic and unprofessional, highlighting the existence of a double standard regarding the conduct required of male and female reporters. Others defended Ballard after finding the unconventional on-air interaction amusing.
