Good news for fans of ‘Good Love‘ singer Anita Baker!
Before she starting slaying stages across the U.S. this year on her hotly selling ‘The Songstress Tour‘ in honor of the 40th anniversary of her debut album of the same name, Baker kicked off 2023 by celebrating her 65th birthday with promises of gifting new music to her longtime supporters.
The Quiet Storm Queen may have quietly deferred the tune’s delivery over the last few months, but – if a recent announcement is anything to judge by – she is gearing up to unbox the additions to her legendary discography.
Details inside.
Anita quietly updated her Twitter bio to confirm the long-awaited new tunes are “ready.” At the time of this report, however, there is no tentative release date attached to the effort or its parent album – the follow-up to 2004’s ‘My Everything‘ (her last traditional studio project).
The promise of new music was first mentioned after she spent most of 2021 fighting for ownership of her iconic hits (even calling on longtime fans to boycott the stream of her music until she could get the tangled tunes out of their ‘unfair’ contract), her triumph there gave the green light for new material – the first of which was originally slated to drop on January 5.
As if the completion of the yet-released tunes isn’t enough to celebrate, Baker has also expanded the itinerary of her ‘The Songstress Tour’ to include stops in even more U.S. municipal territories.
In addition to the previously announced, multi-date return to Las Vegas in October, the 8x GRAMMY winner has also added visits to Nashville (October 26) and Birmingham (October 28). Head over to Ticketmaster for details.
