Managing a demanding schedule is nothing new to Andy Reid, who has witnessed it all in his storied coaching career. But when asked about the scenario, even the seasoned coach couldn’t help but respond with a witty remark given the Kansas City Chiefs‘ demanding lineup to end the 2024 NFL season.

The Chiefs, the reigning Super Bowl winners, have had an extremely demanding schedule this season. Kansas City has repeatedly shown its toughness in high-stakes games and in short periods. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been more outspoken about the toll this schedule takes, but Reid has remained calm in his remarks. Mahomes recently acknowledged: “It’s not a great feeling,” “You never want to play this many games in such a short span. But it’s part of the job. You just have to push through.”

Reid has remained focused on what the squad can control in spite of the difficulties. He underlined earlier this month how crucial flexibility is: “It is what it is. You just have to manage it and make the best of it.”

Reid’s statement emphasizes his experience as well as the larger discussion over NFL player workload and safety. As supporters and commentators argue over the fairness of such strict scheduling, the Chiefs keep demonstrating their ability to bounce back from setbacks, with their coach setting the standard—one witty comment at a time.
