According to internet records kept by the Hennepin County sheriff, former NFL running back Adrian Peterson was arrested Friday morning in Minnesota and charged with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated.
Peterson had been at U.S. Bank Stadium on Thursday night for the Minnesota Vikings’ public draft celebration. He was taken into jail at 5:16 a.m. CST and released at 7:31 a.m. CST after posting a $4,000 bond.
It is a misdemeanor charge. Peterson’s next court appearance is set on May 9 in Minneapolis.
A officer saw Peterson going 83 mph in a 55 mph zone and gave him a preliminary breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.14%, State Patrol Lt. Mike Lee told the Minnesota Star Tribune.
Peterson has been involved in a lot of situations throughout the years, including financial difficulties, child abuse, and marital violence. This is the most recent of them.
In the 2007 NFL Draft, Peterson, 40, was selected by the Vikings with the seventh overall choice in the first round. After the 2017 season, he left the team after ten years of service.
