On February 12, Brandon Aiyuk, a star wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, had a strange experience when a police officer stopped him because he believed his Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk was stolen, even though he actually owned the vehicle.
After driving at 53 miles per hour, the 26-year-old, who has 27 career touchdowns, was pulled over and recorded the exchange with the police officer, who stated that the vehicle is often stolen.
Before revealing that he is an NFL player on a $120 million, four-year contract with the 49ers, Aiyuk attempted to clarify that the automobile is brand new and that he has enough money to avoid having to steal cars to make ends meet.
The receiver ruthlessly responded, “You don’t have to watch football,” to the officer’s attempt to deflect the situation by claiming he doesn’t watch it. Nothing indicates that I’m a car thief. The policeman, however, appeared to be on a power trip and stated that he would investigate the situation further.
Aiyuk, who is Black, was eventually allowed to carry on with his day. He was stopped after just two miles of driving.
