Only a month separates us from the 2023 MTV VMAs!

One of music’s biggest nights, this year’s edition of the annual ceremony is pressing forward with a trumpeted return to New Jersey’s Prudential Center on September 12.

As fans clamor over which of their favorite acts will take home the night’s shiny Moonperson trophies (click here to see nominations), MTV has music lovers waiting with bated breath for the official announcement of the event’s host, performer list, and – of course – the coveted Video Vanguard honor.

Having already toasted the needle-moving videographies of legendary and iconic acts like Michael Jackson (after whom the award is named), Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Kanye West, Missy Elliott, and Nicki Minaj among its exclusive honorees, the 2023 statuette has been shrouded in mystery as to who will be its designated awardee.
