‘Wicked’ Stars Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande Were Paid the Same for Hit Film, Rep Confirms

‘Wicked’ is flying high at the global box office. And while much of the discourse around the blockbuster had been positive, there has been growing chatter around the pay packets of its lead stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

Unverified claims began doing the rounds suggesting that Grande made significantly more than Erivo (who is on the cusp of EGOT status).

Now, an official statement has been issued clarifying the truth of the matter.

Reps for the film at Univeral Pictures issued a brief but direct statement addressing the speculation. It read:

“Reports of pay disparity between Cynthia and Ariana are completely false and based on internet fodder. The women received equal pay for their work on Wicked.”
