As they posed for a picture in New York City, a local guy accused the former heavyweight champion of robbing him when he was a youngster. He said : “You robbed me when I was eight years old on Amboy and Pitkin,”

Despite his rough upbringing—he had been incarcerated 38 times by the time he was 13—Tyson responded to the accusation with sincere astonishment.

He hugged the man and said, “I robbed you?” incredulously. Then he said to the TV crew:  “Now he’s blaming me for robbing him… Yeah, at Woolworth’s. We took our pictures in there. I’m sorry.”

It’s no secret that Tyson, now 58, had a difficult upbringing. He was raised in Brooklyn’s Brownsville, one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. Tyson’s upbringing was anything but stable due to his father’s early abandonment and a tense relationship with his mother.
