Since leaving the bright lights of New York City, it seems that Saquon Barkley has endless opportunities ahead. His remarkable 2024 season has solidified his status in NFL history as one of the most remarkable running backs in the modern era.
After winning accolades such as the rushing title and the Lombardi trophy, the star running back for the Philadelphia Eagles has now received the distinction of being the literal “poster child” for this year’s EA Sports Madden Football. Featuring his unforgettable backwards hurdle from Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Barkley’s cover appearance in Madden 26 has drawn significant acclaim from fans.
Nonetheless, for the sake of his well-being, his mother is asking that this photoshoot be the final time he leaves the ground. Barkley’s latest press tour took him to the set of Good Morning America, where he shared his mother’s wish for him to be a little more cautious in 2025.
Saquon Barkley speaks about his viral photoshoot
When asked to recount the viral photoshoot, Barkley admitted that it was at that moment he understood just how crazy the stunt really was.
“That’s when I realized what I did was super hard. When they ask you to recreate something and you have to be strapped into a harness, it showed me how cool it was. And also, how dangerous the play was, and the reason why my mom likes when my feet stay on the ground.”
Barkley’s incredible leap occurred during one of his many performances, where he rushed for over 150 yards the previous season. He recorded a total of 30 touches that day—27 carries and three receptions.
Overall, Barkley narrowly missed hitting 200 yards against the Jaguars, finishing with 159 rushing yards at an average of 5.9 yards per carry, while his 40 receiving yards ranked as the second most on the Eagles.
