Rolling Stone & LA Times Name Beyonce’s ‘Renaissance’ As Best Album of 2022

Beyonce‘s seventh solo studio album, ‘Renaissance,’ continues to prove itself the gift that keeps on giving.

Released in July to historic measure, the set has since been marked a standout among the year’s releases commercially and critically – an eminence that was reiterated last month when the Recording Academy announced the diva led the nominations tally for the 2023 GRAMMYs.

Further proof of the laud the LP is courting comes thanks to year-end lists from some of the industry’s biggest publications and tastemakers.

Among them is ‘Rolling Stone,’ which published its ‘100 Best Albums of 2022’ list Thursday (December 1).  Besting some of the year’s top sellers (Taylor Swift‘s ‘Midnights,’ Harry Styles’ ‘Harry’s House,’ Bad Bunny‘s ‘Un Verano Sin Ti,’ and more, ‘RS’ branded Bey’s latest LP as “the musical highlight of the year.”

“The album finds her unabashedly celebrating Black pleasure in all its multitudes and illustrates that theme with dozens of sampled voices and sounds, esteemed guests (Grace Jones!), and echoes to global club styles past and present,” the mag said before referring to ‘Renaissance’ as ‘her thrilling best.’

They weren’t the only ones singing the Queen’s praises, however.

On Sunday (December 4), the LA Times took to press to reveal its 20 best albums of 2022.  Atop the list was none other than Beyonce.

Calling the ‘Break My Soul’-led project a “loving tribute to dance music’s Black and queer pioneers,” the LA Times placed ‘Renaissance’ in front of some of 2022’s most acclaimed sets including Bunny’s, Swift’s, Styles’, Wizkid‘s ‘More Love, Less Ego,’ Kendrick Lamar‘s ‘Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers,’ The Weeknd‘s ‘Dawn FM,’ and more.

What’s more, they also listed ‘Break’ as the year’s best song.
