RIAA: With ‘Red Ruby,’ Nicki Minaj Breaks 3-Way Tie with Cardi B & Doja Cat For Most Platinum Singles Among Female Rappers

As if making headlines recently for her 2011 smash, ‘Super Bass,’ becoming the highest-certified female Rap song of all time wasn’t enough to boast, Nicki Minaj also welcomed news her latest album, ‘Pink Friday 2,’ made her the first female rapper this century to have 5 Platinum LPs.

While the #Barbz continue celebrating their fearless leader’s latest slew of accomplishments, they may have overlooked another feat the record-conquering Queen quietly attained.

Details inside.

Per the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the March 2023-released ‘Red Ruby Da Sleeze,’ Minaj’s record-extending 44th Hot 100 top 20 hit, was certified Platinum on Friday (March 29). The term “Platinum” denotes sales equivalence of 1 million in the United States.

With the additional shiny plaque Nicki now sits in the RIAA’s record books for most Platinum-certified songs among female rappers (18), breaking a three-way tie with fellow femcees Doja Cat and Cardi B (both with 17).

The addition of ‘Ruby’ brings the Harajuku Barbie’s cumulative single sales to 48.5 million – making her one of the best-selling female acts of all time.

Among all women, only Carrie Underwood (49.5 million), Cardi B (58 million), Britney Spears (59 million), Miley Cyrus (60 million), SZA (62 million), Mariah Carey (69 million), Lady Gaga (82.5 million), Ariana Grande (86.5 million), Katy Perry (112 million), Beyonce (114.5 million), Taylor Swift (137.5 million), and Rihanna (166.5 million) have sold more singles.
