QB Carson Beck of Georgia Has an Elbow Injury

In Saturday’s SEC championship game against Texas, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck was struck while passing and hurt his right elbow. The school announced Monday that he is currently discussing treatment options with medical professionals.

According to the university’s statement, there is no set timeline for Beck’s possible comeback.

In the first half of Georgia’s 22-19 overtime victory, Beck was hurt while trying to throw on the game-winning play. During the second half, he was observed on the sidelines icing his injured elbow.

Under coach Kirby Smart, the Bulldogs won their third SEC championship with Gunner Stockton, a little utilized sophomore quarterback, coming off the bench.

The Bulldogs reported that punter Brett Thorson was hurt during Saturday’s win in addition to Beck. Thorson, a Ray Guy Award finalist, may need season-ending surgery due to a knee injury to his non-kicking limb.

Regarding the injury, Smart stated: “Carson and Brett are both fierce competitors and extremely hard workers,”. “I’m confident they will attack their rehab with the same determination they exhibit in their daily habits. We will be here to support them every step of the way.”

Georgia will get a first-round bye as the second-seeded team in the College Football Playoffs. The winner of the first-round matchup between No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 10 Indiana on December 20 will face the Bulldogs.
