Timberlake is no stranger to being atop the fanbase’s sh*tlist but their disdain for the NSYNC frontman was reignited in 2023 after her less-than-flattering take on their dissolved romantic relationship in her top-selling memoir ‘The Woman in Me.’
After the 42-year-old announced the arrival of his January 25-released new song ‘Selfish,’ the first single from his forthcoming album ‘Everything I Thought It Was,’ the #BritneyArmy sprang into action by streaming and downloading Britney’s 2011 ‘Femme Fatale‘ song of the same name (heard above).
By nightfall on Thursday the song had cracked the top 10 of iTunes’ real-time sales chart which at the time was reigned over by Timberlake.
By mid-day Friday (January 26), Spears had twirled past Timberlake on the hitlist’s U.S. edition.

The call to action wasn’t only answered by Stateside Spears fans, however.
As of time of this report her ‘Selfish’ is sitting above his on the real-time iTunes charts in in Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Norway, South Africa, and more.
Once coupled with streaming numbers from all the major digital platforms as well as sales data from other music retailers, the iTunes stats above could even help Britney’s jam appear on the Hot 100 week after next.
