Lady Gaga lights up the October issue of Vogue Magazine.
And aptly so.
For, the month will bring with it the release of ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ and, as recently reported, the lead single from her new album (which fans have christened ‘LG7’).
Ever the chameleon, Gaga transforms with a variety of looks for the Ethan James Green shoot – some inspired by the film, some inspired by her own iconic aesthetic.
A compelling interview feature landed in tandem with the spread; one which saw Mother Monster wax candid about the ‘Joker’ sequel, her engagement to fiancé Michael Polansky, and how he called on her to create her new Pop record. A record Vogue confirms is set for a February 2025 release.
Pics and quotes await below…
Lady Gaga on LG7 Album:
“Michael is the person who told me to make a new pop record. He was like, ‘Babe. I love you. You need to make pop music.’”
Michael Polansky on Encouraging the New Project:
“Like anyone would do for the person they love, I encouraged her to lean in to the joy of it. On the Chromatica tour, I saw a fire in her; I wanted to help her keep that alive all the time and just start making music that made her happy.
She’s someone who is happiest when she’s creating. It’s one of the qualities I love most about her. But I see her enjoying it so much more than she did when I met her back in 2019”
Vogue Excerpt on a Song from Lady Gaga’s New Album:
“It’s intense and ominous—an old-school Gaga banger, unsettling but also buoyant”
Gaga on the Headspace She Created the Album In:
“Michael and I did [the Chromatica tour] together. I did it pain-free! I haven’t smoked pot in years. I’ve, like, changed. A lot. I feel like this new album, in a lot of ways, is about that time but from a place of happiness instead of misery. And now, Michael and I are really excited to organize our lives—and our marriage—around our creative output as a couple. Which is really different than, like, doing what other people want you to do.”
Gaga on Reconfiruin How She Sings in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’:
“Yeah. I worked really hard on that, kind of trying to undo all my technique. I mean, Ally Maine in A Star Is Born is a singer and it’s a movie about people who make music. That is not what this film is about at all.”
Joaquin Phoenix on Working with Gaga:
“I encouraged her to sing poorly. I remember asking her to sing without her vibrato. She has a beautiful vibrato—too beautiful. I think she felt naked without it. But as soon as she moved away from technique she unlocked her character’s voice.”
