ESPN networks will carry TNT’s Inside the NBA. Charles Barkley’s recent jabs at his prospective network on Thursday night, however, make it seem unlikely that ESPN NBA commentator Kendrick Perkins will embrace Barkley and the other members of the Inside the NBA group.
Barkley voiced his complaints on Thursday’s episode of Inside the NBA over ESPN’s coverage of the Los Angeles Lakers since Luka Dončić was acquired, specifically criticizing Perkins’ recent remarks.
Barkley declared during his tirade that he “wants all the smoke” from ESPN employees who disagree with whatever he said.

Perkins responded to Barkley’s remarks in a post on X, advising him to “maintain that same energy” the next time they meet in person. Perkins penned: “Hey NBA on TNT, might wanna tell that senior citizen Charles Barkley that I’ll be around,”
“When he see an idiot or fool in person, make sure he keep that same energy. He can come playing with me if he want to and imma Address his ass like the numbers on a house. Straight from the 409 homeboy and we bar none and fade all.”

That has undoubtedly been criticized by Barkley and the other members of the Inside the NBA cast before. Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal had previously gone so far as to call Perkins a “roach” and strike a punching bag while live on television while holding a picture of Perkins.
Fortunately for ESPN, TNT will continue to produce Inside the NBA for the upcoming season. Therefore, it is possible that Perkins and the Inside the NBA cast may continue to have minimal in-person interactions during the post-partum period.
However, it appears that there may be no hope at all for ESPN’s NBA media personalities to be a single, happy family.
