Did you all see that awkward moment when MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov refused to shake hands with Kate Abdo after the Champions League Final? Talk about cringe-worthy! I mean, we all know Khabib is a tough guy, but come on, man, show a little sportsmanship!
Twitter was buzzing with reactions after that snub. Some people were Team Khabib, saying he was just being true to himself and not into all that fake politeness. Others were like, “it was just shake her hand and move on!”
The MMA legend joined iShowSpeed on the network’s panel, with the two coming on as guests after Paris Saint-Germain beat Inter Milan 5-0 on the day.
Abdo usually appears alongside co-hosts Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards, but they welcome guests regularly.
Khabib joined the post-match coverage after the lopsided affair and shook hands with everyone except Kate, who extended a hand to him but had it refused as the fighter put a hand to his chest instead.
Khabib hails from Russia but is a Sunni Muslim. As such, he tries to abide by Sharia law, which prohibits men and women from making physical contact unless they are related or married.
Either way, it was definitely an awkward moment that got everyone talking. You never know what’s going to happen in the world of sports. Religious values over sports huh?
