Aaron Glenn, the coach of the Jets, has already selected Justin Fields as his starting quarterback. Fields will be the eighth different Week 1 quarterback for the Jets in the previous 14 seasons to replace Aaron Rodgers. Unlike last season, when the Steelers benched him following a 4-2 start, Fields is used to this role.
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Fields stated: “It was, of course, different for me and a space where I wasn’t necessarily comfortable,”
In his first public appearance since agreeing to a two-year, $40 million deal in free agency last month, Fields spoke with the media on Wednesday.

He claimed that his choice to quit the Steelers, who attempted to re-sign Fields, was unaffected by his benching.
Fields said: “You can’t take things personal,”. “That’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, not to take anything personal. At the end of the day, I was just excited of what the Jets had going on here with AG [Glenn] and just with the coaching staff, so it didn’t really have anything to do with Pittsburgh.”
However, Fields acknowledged that her seat behind Russell Wilson was “a place where I wasn’t, really, never in… in my entire life.” Fields played 15 snaps in five games and threw two passes in the final 12 games, including the postseason.
He said: “Coach [Mike] Tomlin made a decision he thought was best for the team, and I’m never going to go against that,” “I’m not a selfish guy whatsoever, so I just tried to change my perspective, get better each and every day in practice.”
In his sixth season, Fields, 26, now has the opportunity to start for the third time.
