Angel Reese doesn’t hesitate to express her opinions. The Chicago Sky star, who has a four-year contract worth $324,383, has been outspoken about the WNBA’s incredibly low pay. In 2025, the 22-year-old power forward will only make $74,909.
She wasn’t afraid to voice her displeasure when the former LSU Tigers star and Caitlin Clark’s collegiate opponent received an additional $50,000 as a member of the Rose Basketball Club’s first Unrivaled championship team.
Reese wrote in response to Clark’s Indiana Fever colleague Sydney Colston, who is usually hilarious, on X: “hey sista. i’m doing well. just won 50k on a flight. I know you are VERY aware & i’m sorry to break it to you but i’m on a rookie contract & that 50k was a little more than half of my contract so I have to keep that to myself…. sorry give me a few years and i gotchu. be well”
With relationships with well-known firms like McDonald’s, Reese’s (naturally), and her own shoe and clothing line at Reebok, the brand-empire builder stepped up her smack talk and appeared to smash the WNBA once again in her Instagram post.

Angel Reese and her WNBA stance
Even though there won’t likely be a labor stoppage during the upcoming season, the players union’s decision to opt out of the CBA at the conclusion of last year has already intensified the rhetoric. Given the number of young players in the WNBA, especially Clark’s crossover appeal as the biggest basketball star under 25 (including in the NBA), an agreement must be reached as quickly as possible. If not, Reese and other well-known people will express their annoyance publicly.
“For 10 weeks, I hung with some dawgs but also turned some “dawgs” into FOOD.
Thank you @unrivaledbasketball for allowing me to be apart of history. I created bonds with women that I would have never thought but I really needed that will last a lifetime. I was able to grow, learn, make mistakes, build confidence, cry, laugh, smell my flowers, beat the odds & understand the value of what it’s like to be treated like a pro. This is the standard for what WE DESERVE. Even though it was an “inuagural [sic] season”, the expectations were through the roof & I’m proud to say I was apart of HISTORY.”
