On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 44-38, albeit the score may have been higher if Steelers wide receiver George Pickens hadn’t been called for two instances of unsportsmanlike behavior.

George Pickens in Action

Pickens intentionally dropped the ball on a defender after a first-down run in the first instance, and after a deep pass from quarterback Russell Wilson, he pointed what appeared to be a finger gun toward the crowd in the second. The young receiver’s aggressive temper has cost him and his club before; only last week, he got into a fight with Cleveland Browns CB Greg Newsome. Nevertheless, the Steelers prevailed.

Mike Tomlin asks George Pickens to “Grow Up”

In a post-game press conference, head coach Mike Tomlin gave the star player a direct comment when asked about Sunday’s antics.

Reporters were told by Tomlin: “He’s just gotta grow up man,”. “It’s an emotional game. These divisional games are big. He’s got a target on his back because he’s George. He understands that, but he’s gotta grow up and he’s gotta grow up in a hurry.”

Pickens grabbed a 17-yard touchdown throw from Wilson early in the game, but that was outside of the penalties. The Steelers, who are currently 9-3, will play the Cleveland Browns, who are 3-8, again next week.
