Ed Sheeran is going it alone.

The Pop hitmaker is currently wowing audiences on simultaneous live shows – ‘The Mathematic Tour’ (a stadium trek) and ‘The Subtract Tour’ (an intimate venue spectacle that precedes in the same city).

Currently in Minneapolis for both concerts, the Brit-bred performer made a surprise announcement about how he’ll be rolling out his next studio album.

According to the Star Tribune, Sheeran – who released his ‘Subtract’ album this May – confirmed that his next LP will be released “on my own record label.” He said:

“I take 3 ½ years to put together an album. This new one might come “three or four months” after “Subtract.” “I have no desires or expectations for this album. I’ll put this album out myself. My own record label. It’s not going to have the same push or machine behind it. Songs will not be hammered down your throats for four or five years.”

Sheeran’s words come after a recent interview, in which he appeared to echo the notion of dropping music differently moving forward:

“I kinda wanna do my own thing, rather than doing the traditional thing.. so the next thing that comes out will be something that hasn’t been done before I guess.”

Since arriving on the scene, Sheeran has released music via Atlantic Records.
