Chart Check: Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’ Ties Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’ For Second Longest-Charting Solo Female Song in Hot 100 History

Just a week after learning ‘All I Want for Christmas’ had tied the all-time record for longest-reigning #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 (among solo females), Mariah Carey has now discovered the timeless yuletide tune has entered another historic tie in the chart’s record books.

Details inside.

Having already set a personal milestone as the longest-charting hit of her career, ‘Christmas’ – which earned its 65th non-consecutive print on the Hot 100 this week – now shares the #2 spot alongside Adele‘s ‘Rolling in the Deep‘ and Jewel‘s ‘Foolish Games’ on the all-time list of longest-charting solo female hits.

The only unaccompanied smash by a woman to enjoy a longer reign on the all-genre chart is Leann Rimes‘ 1997 Country classic ‘How Do I Live‘ (which lived on the Hot 100 for a whopping 69 weeks).

When all female charted songs are considered – solo or otherwise – Dua Lipa‘s ‘Future Nostalgia‘ hit ‘Levitating‘ (assisted by rapper DaBaby) hovers in the historic top spot thanks a jaw-dropping 77-week run.
