Chart Check [Hot 100]: Ice Spice & Nicki Minaj’s ‘Princess Diana’ Outsold This Week’s Top 25 Combined

Just as Ice Spice‘s previously highest-charting hit, ‘Boy’s a Liar’ (with PinkPantheress) readies its exit from the Hot 100’s top 10, the rising rapstress replaced it thanks to help from Nicki Minaj.

Look inside to see the numbers that powered their duet, ‘Princess Diana (Remix),’ to being crowned this week’s top debut on the hit list.

Here’s how ‘Princess’ pounced to a #4 premiere on the Hot 100 this week.

  • Streaming: 21.8 million U.S.-based streams
  • Digital Download: 77,000 sold
  • Radio Airplay: 2.4 million audience impressions

Released April 14, by the end of the RIOTUSA-produced cut’s inaugural tracking week it had logged a whopping 77,000 units sold – one of the year’s biggest first-week figures for a single.  For context, the number is more than the pure sales of the entire top 25 combined.

According to Billboard, the song’s total sales were aided by the release of multiple versions including with Ice’s solo version, clean and explicit renditions, an extended version, sped-up and slowed-down renditions, and instrumental versions.

Coming in hot as the second top 10 hit of Spice’s career, ‘Princess’ prints Minaj’s name in the chart region a 22nd time (extending her reign among female rappers). When all female acts are considered, Nicki – previously tied for 7th place with her ‘Feeling Myself‘ co-star Beyonce – now only trails behind Taylor Swift, Madonna, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, and Whitney Houston on the all-time ranking.
