Brian McKnight has been getting dragged on social media for overly praising his step-kids, while seemingly disowning his own children. The drama comes on the heels of the R&B crooner settling a defamation lawsuit with his estranged daughter, Briana, which she filed for defaming her by lying about her having an affair with her cousin. Details inside… Nobody wins when the family feuds! Baby there is DRAMA between R&B singer Brian McKnight and his older children. And it’s not pretty. The renowned singer-songwriter, has finally reached a settlement with his estranged daughter Briana, over a lawsuit she filed against him. Briana accused her father of maliciously defaming her on social media by lying about her having an affair with her cousin, which she claimed was completely false. According to documents retrieved by Radar Online on May 3rd, Briana filed the lawsuit against her father in 2020, alleging that his actions were motivated by animosity. Briana stated that the issue arose in 2019 when she shared some of her experiences growing up with an absent father on her personal Instagram page, without even hinting that she was referring to her father. Brian McKnight, however, publicly accused her of being a promiscuous and incestuous minor, hoping to undermine her credibility. Briana’s lawsuit claimed that the “Back At One” singer’s statement had caused her harm and damaged her reputation. His post reportedly said: “And unfortunately along the way, a couple years ago I caught wind that there was an older cousin who was above 18 who was quite possibly having sex with her.” He also reportedly alleged that Briana’s mother, who he’d had an affair with while he was married to someone else, “only had a child with” him “for money in the first place.” According to court documents, Briana strongly refuted the allegations against her in the lawsuit. She declared that she had never engaged in any sexual contact with any relative while she was a minor or otherwise. Briana further contended that she did not believe anyone had even told her father such things and that he was simply fabricating them. In his response to the lawsuit, the Grammy nominated singer staunchly denied all accusations of wrongdoing. He maintained that his statements were "substantially true" and that he had no malice in his actions. He had requested the dismissal of the entire case, but the case was still set to proceed to trial. However, it appears that both parties eventually agreed to dismiss the lawsuit in February, as per the court documents. It is not clear how the settlement agreement was reached, but the resolution has brought an end to the legal tussle between father and daughter. Over the weekend, Brian McKnight became the subject of widespread attention on social media for a concerning incident. It appeared as though the celebrated musician had omitted his Black children and introduced a second son, who was named after him. The thing is, he already has a son named after him. Many fans accused him of neglecting his biological children. “You are perfection my son! I’m so proud to give you my name and just as excited to watch you live up to it!

“I love you, Daddy”

He seemingly doubled down on his feelings in clip from this interview below:

The “Anytime” singer is a father of four children. He has two sons, Brian Jr. and Niko, from his first marriage to Julie, whom he was married to from 1990 to 2003. Additionally, he has a daughter, Brianna, and a son, Clyde, from previous relationships.

Following his split from Julie, Brian later tied the knot with Dr. Lelani Mendoza, who had two children of her own, Julia and Jack, from previous relationships. However, the 53-year-old artist came under fire for an Instagram post he shared in December 2022, which was a tribute to Julia on her 21st birthday. A Twitter user posted a screenshot of the post featuring Brian and his stepdaughter standing in front of a BMW that he and Mendoza had gifted her.

Hmph.
