Having already secured ranking on Rolling Stone‘s ‘500 Best Songs of All Time’ (#426), Nicki Minaj is no stranger to seeing her 2011 megahit ‘Super Bass‘ lauded for its enduring legacy.
The historic Diamond-certified smash, which still stands as the most popular member of her prized discography over a decade after its release, got its most recent homage courtesy of Billboard’s ‘500 Best Pop Songs.’
There, it not only towered above every other female rapper’s placement but also made the 40-year-old the second-highest placed Black woman overall, runner-up only to Pop icon Whitney Houston who finished at #1 on the tally with her timeless classic ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody.’
Look inside to see what number ‘Bass’ bounced to on Billboard’s coveted count.
On a polarizing poll that sees femcees like Lizzo, Lauryn Hill, Salt-N-Pepa, Doja Cat, Lil Kim, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, and Missy Elliott included, Minaj – already voted the “greatest female rapper of all time” by Billboard – saw herself as the only rapstress ranked in the ‘500 Best Pop Songs’ list’s top 20 thanks to a #13 landing.
‘Bass,’ found aboard the deluxe edition of Nicki’s debut album ‘Pink Friday,’ is one of the most popular songs of the 2010s overall having peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 at the time of its popularity.
As of time reported it remains her longest-charting hit with a whopping 39-week stay to its credit.
The Kane Beatz-produced bop wasn’t the only Hip-Hop hit to get acclaim from Billboard’s list.
Among all efforts, the highest ranking Rap record came courtesy of the #9 placement of 2Pac and Dr. Dre‘s unforgettable duet ‘California Love.’
Released in 1995, the song – Pac’s famous first single on Death Row Records – not only stands as one of his most successful singles to date but also granted the late legend his first #1 hit on the all-genre chart.
Billboard unveiled the full list on Friday (October 20) to not only toast its 65th anniversary but also give a nod to Hot 100-charting singles only.
