As has been predicted all week long, Taylor Swift‘s latest re-recorded album – ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)‘ – not only entered the Billboard 200 at #1 but was accompanied by some record-breaking figures.

First-Week Billboard 200 Position: #1

With a whopping 1.65 million total sales attached to its inaugural sales week, ‘1989 (TV)’ catapulted to the top of the Billboard 200 with her biggest first-week sales yet and the biggest total of any artist this year.

The previous titleholder was Swift herself when her ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ dropped jaws with the 716,000 units it sold during its opening week.

In fact, the ‘1989 (TV)’ sum was so large it marks the highest first-week sales any effort has boasted since Adele‘s ‘25‘ opened to 3.38 million in November 2015.

According to Billboard, sales of Swift’s latest were “enhanced by its availability in 15 collectible physical formats: five color vinyl variants, eight CD editions and two cassette editions” – this is separate from its multiple digital versions and deluxe versions.
