One of the greatest players in NBA history (and basketball in general) is LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers. His record-breaking and remarkable career will serve as a benchmark for future generations. James was born in Akron, Ohio.
His most recent achievement? For the 563rd time in his career, he scored at least 30 points during the regular season, breaking the record set by Michael Jordan in 2003. The Cleveland Cavaliers legend broke the record with his 1,523rd appearance over 22 seasons, while the Chicago Bulls legend set it with 1,072 games over 15 seasons.
During the Los Angeles Lakers‘ victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, James scored his final 30 points on a turnaround jumper at 5:58. LeBron stated: “It’s very humbling,”. “Anytime I’m mentioned with any of the greats, and arguably the greatest ever to play the game, super-cool. It’s someone I idolized in my childhood, and I wear 23 because of him.”
Anthony Davis isn’t overly thrilled with LeBron James’ accomplishment
With the former New Orleans Pelicans star winning his first NBA championship (against the Miami Heat in 2020) and paving the route for his future success as a professional basketball player, Anthony Davis and LeBron James’ partnership has gone a long way.
However, when he was interviewed in the locker room following the Lakers’ victory over the Hawks, Chicago-native AD made sure the media was aware of his teammate’s recent achievement, indicating that he wasn’t really pleased with it.
Anthony said: “It bothers me,” “But it took him seven more seasons. … No, actually, growing up, I was more No. 1 LeBron. That was my era. So that’s obviously a hell of an accomplishment. I think he’s probably No. 1 in everything at this point. I’ve been here long enough to witness so many accomplishments.”
James, who turned 40 this week, is one of the few active players who saw Jordan play for the Chicago Bulls in his prime in the 1990s. In Akron, Ohio, he studied and appreciated “His Airness” as a child.
James was driven to tears on the Lakers bench in March 2019 after he overtook Jordan for fourth place on the NBA’s career scoring chart. He referred to Michael as “an inspiration” as well as “the lightning in a bottle for me, because I wanted to be like him.”
