Alexia Nepola denies to Page Six exclusively that she and Marysol Patton took the infamous Type II diabetes drug — now vainly used by celebs for weight-loss purposes — when they received a mystery shot at a doctor’s office on Season 5 of “The Real Housewives of Miami.”
“Wait, are these doctors giving Marysol and Alexia the drug Ozempic, meant for diabetes, to lose weight…on camera? #rhom,” one fan tweeted when the episode premiered in early February.
Another added at the time, “Not Marysol and Alexia doing ozempic on tv lmao #RHOM.”
Nepola, 55, tells Page Six that she and her BFF, 66, took B-12 shots during that scene and not the controversial weight-loss drug that has taken Hollywood by storm.
“It’s for energy, and it has, like, other nutrients,” the reality star explains while giving us an exclusive tour of her lavish penthouse and kitchen in Miami.
“The doctor had given it to Marysol because she felt weak and lethargic, and [it] maybe had to do something with her diet, but the B-12 always adds to anybody’s health.”
However, in the scene, the doctor described the injection as a “fat-burning shot,” and Patton said they were required to take it “once a week” for maintenance.
Nepola adds, though, that she is “scared” of even having her blood drawn during a regular medical visit because she doesn’t like needles. Therefore, the Bravolebrity stays in shape the old-fashioned way: by monitoring her portion control.
“I always had everything in my house,” Nepola says. “It’s about portion control. You’re not going to eat the entire bag of chips, but you have to know how to eat, like, a few bites and that’s it.”
The mother of two concludes, “I think everything in moderation. I don’t like to know that I can’t eat something.”
Although Nepola has not gone to drastic measures to maintain her figure, several other “Housewives” have been scrutinized for allegedly using the diabetes drug to shed weight.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards has repeatedly shut down accusations — including from fellow Bravolebrity Melissa Gorga — about whether her recently slimmed-down figure is due to Ozempic.
“I have never tried ozempic and this is not from plastic surgery,” the “Halloween” star, 54, commented on Page Six’s Instagram account in January, beneath a post that linked to a story about her ripped muscles.
In February, “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Jackie Goldschneider claimed to Page Six that Ozempic runs rampant among the “Housewives” and said she is “horrified” by it.
“There’s going to be a lot of people with eating disorders. … You start dropping massive amounts of weight. That’s so addicting,” she told us. “That’s how I spiraled into anorexia.”
While most stars are not actually copping to taking the highly sought-after medication, a few, including Chelsea Handler and Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, admitted they have taken it.
“I am on the weight-loss shots, honey, OK,” the “Shahs of Sunset” alum, 41, revealed on Instagram earlier this week. “I’m just not going to lie about it because I always keep it real about what is fake.”
It’ll be interesting to see what happens in a few years with all these Ozempic takers.
