Prosecutors claim that the soccer coach who is accused of killing a California adolescent also sexually molested the boy. Oscar Omar Hernandez, 13, was killed by Mario Edgardo Garcia-Aquino, according to the L.A. County D.A.’s Office, through the “performance of a lewd and lascivious act.”
Oscar’s instructor, Garcia-Aquino, was the last person his family said they saw with him before his death was discovered in a ditch in Oxnard, California, last week.
Garcia-Aquino was first taken into custody by police last week on suspicion of a separate sexual assault, but they said on Monday that they had sufficient evidence to accuse him of Oscar’s death.
Garcia-Aquino is currently facing two charges: assault with intent to commit a felony and lewd act upon a kid aged 14 or 15. The other alleged victim is only identified by authorities as Julian A. The alleged offense took place in December 2022.
