49ERS Player Deebo Samuel Says He’s “Just Not Getting the Ball”

Deebo Samuel, a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, appears to want to get more passes as the 2024 season draws to a close.

The 49ers have lost three of their previous four games and are currently outside of the playoff race, despite their 38-13 victory over the Chicago Bears in Sunday’s NFC game. On Monday, Samuel resorted to social media to refute the idea that he is having trouble with the team, arguing that he simply needs more chances:

Is there any truth to Deebo Samuel’s thoughts?

The South Carolina product had five carries for 13 yards and two catches for 22 yards at the end of Sunday’s contest. Although the club was shorthanded at the position against the Bears due to injuries to running backs Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason, it was the most carries he has seen since a Week 1 victory over the New York Jets.

For the fourth consecutive game, he was not a major contributor to the passing game, therefore it was more noteworthy that he didn’t capitalize on those five runs with 2.6 yards per carry. With McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk out due to injuries, opposing defenders are undoubtedly making an effort to give Samuel more attention.

With four games left with 553 receiving yards, he will need to make a swift turnaround to hit that total this season. He might benefit from having additional opportunities.
