2023 Year in Review: Miley Cyrus Has Major Comeback Year

For better, or for worse, and everything in between, 2023 was a year for the record books.

As the year nears its completion, That Grape Juice is looking back on the moments that shaped the year in the Urban and Pop landscape.

The past few years have been turbulent in terms of commercial success for Cyrus. Her three-set EP project was scrapped after ‘She Is Coming’ in 2019. While her album ‘Plastic Hearts’ was well received critically it failed to produce any major hits or much staying power on the charts.

However, Cyrus came back with ‘Flowers’ this year and it immediately went to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it became her second chart-topper and her best first-week sales to date.

The song broke several streaming records and would spend a total of eight weeks at #1. Her album, ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ saw critical acclaim and produced another top 10 single with ‘Used to Be Young,’ which would be released later after the album’s release.

‘Flowers’ would go on to be named the biggest female song of the year on the Hot 100 and Cyrus would score 6 Grammy nominations at the 2024 ceremony, including Record, Album, and Song of the Year.
